Once again some of the newer members did well by making it through to finals and a number of new members signed up too.
The ‘ White Water Warriors’ Led by Lee Considine, Phil Page and Heather Peck hit the water at 10.30 am and really enjoyed the thrill of getting onto some of their first waves and receiving pointers from Multi Title holder Heather Peck. The White Water Warriors is a new innovation by SOUL as a way of introducing adults and juniors to the joy of surfing. It will be held at 10.30 at all the monthly SOUL comps and a great way of finding out the right way of going surfing from some of the best surfers in the state.
Mathew Robertson showed great form all day and did well to take out the A grade final from Trent Myers who was fresh from his 3rd placing at the Victorian Titles.
Up and coming surfer Nathan Mc Mahon took out the B grade from newish member Shane Ferns who is also showing a good form at the moment.
Ben Jemmett is also putting together some good surfing and took out the junior section from Myles Fletcher.
The over 40s has been thrown wide open with some of the top placed surfers bowing out and some of the other well placed surfers going through to the final.
Larry Hayes made a good board selection from his quiver and took out the final from Ashley Raggs.
Recently crowned over 35s Women’s champ Heather Peck won the women’s event from up and coming junior girls’ surfer Sam Sunderman.
Next comp June 14th. Meet Ocean Grove at 7am. Don’t forget the Great Raffle is on and the mid year function is now the 26th July.
