Blessed at SOUL
We Held our third club day for 2010, and once again it was a superb surf and beach day. 43 club members were frothing at the bit to get in amongst the clean 1 to 1.5 metre waves on offer at the Ant’s break on 13th beach. Conditions were challenging early on with the low tide but as it pushed in there were some quality waves on offer for both the natural and goofy footers.
Some of the younger members, Matt Hayes, Myles Fletcher, Ginny Werner and Saphire Main, paddled out for free surf off the Ant Bombie and looked to score some cracking waves. A good effort.
Danny Malone decided to have a taste of the rail on his board and came back to the beach with 5 stitches in his lip after a quick trip to the doctor.
The first place finisher’s finals saw some great surfing on display with big modern and traditional moves on display.
With everyone well and truly surfed out, the presentations were held at the Ocean Grove rotunda with a BBQ and a few quiet drinks.
All in all a great day was had by all.
The next club day is scheduled for May the 15th but depending on conditions the club may hold the first round of the 2 part club championships.
