Perfect Start to Second SOUL Comp
After a week of almost perfect swell and offshore winds the second SOUL comp got underway in similar conditions. The Open A men were sent in first to make the most of the conditions on offer. Cookie and Ant Brown looked to be in good form in their heats.
Mid morning saw a change in the conditions with the on shore wind and decreasing swell kicking in. Ah good old Ocean Grove. With a full days program to go it was press on regardless and at least the swell hung around to complete all the divisions.
Jordan Noble and Tim Edwards had a good battle in the trad division, with Jordan taking it out in the end. The open A’s put on a good show in the trying conditions and an in form Mat Hayes took it out From Dean Cook who was nursing some sore ribs thanks to his board in an earlier heat.
With most divisions now having had different winners it looks like it will be a very competitive season for all surfers.
With the Autumn weather and swells on the way its onward to the next comp. Meet at Ocean Grove 7am 16th May. Check web site for details.
