Good Waves for August Comp
Well we finally scored good waves for the August comp. Surfing at Smiths Reef we were greeted with fresh North to North Westerly winds and a 1 to 1.5 meter swell.
With a very cold start to the day it was all hands on deck early on to get the tents, and more importantly the BBQ, up and going.
This Comp took on an international flavour with addition of John Connor from Canada. John is visiting John and Diane Mercer who both have long associations with Canada. John and John had been surfing nearly all week and enjoying the conditions. John did well to place 4th in the over 40’s his first comp ever. Hope he doesn’t want to join in too!
Once again the points aggregate in quite a few divisions has been made interesting with a number of surfers either going up or down the rankings.
Chris Meier once again surfed well to take out the Open A final and John Mercer showed he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the over 40s with his second win for the year.
Samantha Sunderman showed the boys how to do it by taking out the Open B final and the Wormsley brothers, Brent and Craig, continued their rivalry in the Trad event which was taken out by Lee Considine.
Down payment for the sheep station might have to wait until the end of year preso.
7 club members are heading off to the Ausie titles being held in Port Macquarie next week end. The club helps its members going to the Ausies with payment of the entry fee and wishes them all the best up North.
The members going are, Brian Tucker, Heather Peck, Anthony Brown, Dean Cook, Samantha Sunderman, Trent Meyers and George Wilson.
